Da Vinci Alizarin Gold Artist Watercolor is a permanent, highly lightfast color that's exactly as its regal name suggests - a warmer, more golden version of Da Vinci Alizarin Crimson. This richly warm and rosy red is wonderful for portrait and landscape painting. Useful for creating varied skintones and auburn tinted hair as well as adding contrast in clothing, it's also perfect for depicting coastal skylines or a late autumn sun shining through turning leaves.
Alizarin Gold has a high tinting strength and does well in mixes. Added to a blue like Prussian or Ultramarine, Alizarin Gold will produce a range of copper colored earths and deep oaken browns along with dark, purplish blues and blacks. Added to Titanium White or Titan Buff creates a range of rosy peaches that are perfect for skintones and desert landscapes.
Although we love this color in mixes, Alizarin Gold really pops when used as a solo color in a painting. To create contrast and interest, try Alizarin Gold alongside or dropped into a true teal, cool blue, or golden green.
